1. We do not operate a backend server
ReadCue has no server of its own. All AI features are powered directly by the third-party AI provider you configure yourself in the settings page (DeepSeek, the official Anthropic Claude API, or the OpenRouter aggregation service). The developer cannot access, store, or forward any of your request content.
2. Data we process
2.1 Web page content
When you actively open the sidebar on a web page, the Extension reads and parses that page's main content and sends it to the AI provider you selected in settings, in order to generate a summary, outline, or chat reply. This content:
- Is only read when you actively trigger a feature — the Extension does not silently collect data or monitor your browsing history in the background;
- Is never stored or forwarded to the developer's own servers by the Extension;
- Is subject to the privacy policy of whichever AI provider you chose, once it leaves your browser.
2.2 API keys and configuration
The third-party AI service API key, provider/model preferences, output language, and other settings you enter are saved locally in your browser and in your browser account's sync storage (i.e., synced across your own devices via your browser account), via the browser's storage API. This data is never uploaded to any server operated by the developer, and the developer cannot read it.
2.3 Anonymous usage analytics
To understand feature usage and improve the product, the Extension collects anonymous usage events (e.g., how often a feature is triggered) via Google Analytics 4, associated with a randomly generated anonymous ID that contains no personal information. This analytics collection:
- Is enabled by default, and you can turn it off at any time in the settings page;
- Never includes web page content, API keys, or any information that could identify you.

The Extension does not sell user data, does not use it for any purpose beyond what is described in this policy, and contains no advertising trackers.
5. Data storage and retention
- API keys and preferences: stored in local browser storage and your account's sync storage; you can modify or clear them at any time in the settings page. Uninstalling the Extension clears all local data.
- Anonymous analytics ID: stored locally only; once analytics is turned off or the Extension is uninstalled, no further events are associated with it.
6. Your controls
You can, at any time:
- Turn off anonymous usage analytics in the settings page;
- Modify or delete your saved API key;
- Uninstall the Extension to clear all of its locally stored data.
7. Children's privacy
The Extension is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
8. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and revise the "Effective date" above.
